Surf N' Turf

If you have to make a connection flight California is the place to do it.
These are some pictures I took while I was killing time between flights.
Not a bad stop at all:o)

High Sodium Content

Nothing can live in The Great Salt Lake but brine shrimp.
I think I captured its liveliness well with these photos:o)

Umbrellas

Beautiful sights can be made out of the strangest things sometimes. I wish my house looked like this:o)

The Beehive State

Gift shops in Utah love to play on the fact that Utah is "boring" with shirts and mugs that read things like, "Eat, drink and be merry... Tomorrow you may be in Utah!"
Despite what many people think, I actually found Utah to be a beautiful escape from my man made city life... an outdoor paradise.

Louisiana

Small towns always seem to have a strange way of mixing old and new.
The restaurant in the 1st photo is located right across the street from the cemetery.
You would think that might be disturbing while you were eating but it was actually a very peaceful and beautiful view. Who would have guessed?

Houston Streets

I drive in and out of Houston frequently but never think to take photos.
For some reason I just felt like snapping a few shots this day (don't worry, I wasn't driving).
If you come to Houston you'll find two things that are very common...
Rain and Traffic.
It was nice to get some shots where the streets are clear and the sky looks beautiful.

On our own in Jamaica

Graduation 2005 meant exciting things would be waiting just around the corner.
I had just turned 18, gotten a new car, and been accepted to a university in the city.
Too me it seemed life couldn't be sweeter.
The equation of these events all added up to equal freedom in my book but they were missing something... TRAVEL
I had traveled many places with my parents before, but this would be the first trip for me to attempt on my own.
I thought about many options but after talking with my boyfriend for a bit we decided on Negril, Jamaica.
I had been there once before but he had not.
It seemed like a great place to go because I was already somewhat aware of what to expect and I thought since I had been there before it would make it easier for us to navigate since it was our first solo trip.

Two days after graduation we boarded a plane for Jamaica (with a quick connection flight in Miami) and we were on our way.

I remember feeling a little worried as the plane started its descent into Montego Bay.
The tiny airport seemed as if it didn't have enough of a runway for the plane to land properly at first but somehow the pilot managed it and we made it safely to the gate.

At this point I was thinking, "Not too bad. We've made it! It'll be easy from here on out..."
However... as is usually the case we had much to learn. Luckily for us, Jamaica was a beautiful place to start.

Beginning

One of my most cherished childhood possessions would have to be my very first passport.
Inside the worn leather booklet there is a glossy photo of a new born Winston Churchill look alike, and pages that are covered with stamps from various destinations.
My 1st trip abroad being when I was only 6 weeks old you might say I was raised to have a love for adventure and all things new and exciting.
Travel is a part of me. As much as I have tried to outgrow it and stay content in one spot it would seem that there is a part of me that will always long for more... more experiences, more excitement, more stories.
I plan to use this blog as a place to share my stories and my photographs.
Please feel free to send me suggestions or comment on my writing skills.
I'm very new to this so all comments are appreciated so I can improve my work.
Other than that I hope you will enjoy what I have to share.
