ostrich

"If you want to win something, run 100 meters. If you want to experience something, run a marathon."

Emil Zatopek

Last weekend I completed my first marathon ever!

I didn't exactly make the time I wanted, but I'm cutting myself a little bit of slack since I just started running about 11 months ago.

My legs were exhausted, and I've never, ever, ever had a blood blister before but I totally got one larger than the state of Texas on the ball of my foot...
Just the same, it was an amazing experience and I've already signed up for my next one :-)

October 28th, my husband, sister, brother-in-law and I will be running the Marine Corps Marathon !!!

I gave myself a little break this weekend, but I'll be starting my training back up again on Monday... maybe the 2nd marathon will be the charm for making the time I want.

Since I spent last weekend running as hard as I could, at the suggestion of a friend, I decided to head over to Sam Houston Race Park and spend this weekend watching other things run...

Apparently I have a new gift as I called every race and won a whopping $10 or as others might say, my admission price, but I'm still feeling pretty awesome so I won't rain on the prediction parade too much. :-p

I really don't remember what the name of the ostriches or the horses that won were, but for the camel race the winner was Camela Anderson followed closely by Sir Drinks-A-Lot.

I'm not sure when Sam Houston Race Park will be doing another one of the races but I hope sometime soon... Saturday night was certainly not an everyday experience!

No plans as of yet for next weekend... but I'm looking for something to compete with ostrich racing!

Any suggestions?
